Who We Are

Dr. Amy Bowman, Medical Director at FSPS, is a licensed Veterinarian on call 24/7. With over two decades of experience and hand raising macaws, she enjoys birds. She is a gentle soul who loves to share her knowledge about her feathered friends.   

As Medical Director, Amy is responsible for giving new arrivals a once over before going into quarantine until bloodwork is complete. She also completes fecal tests and maintains records on each bird to ensure their health and wellness are well provided for.  

Facility Director, Robert "Birdman" Mroz is no stranger to birds. As Facility Director, he plays a pivotal role in ensuring smooth daily operations and long-term sustainability at the sanctuary. He is a strategic overseer who blends facility management expertise with practical leadership skills to keep operations efficient. 

Birdman has many years of experience raising parrots. He enjoys meeting new birds and helping all in need. He has a big heart and wants the best for all.

Birdman is also responsible for setting up for various events the sanctuary has scheduled, such as Renaissance festivals from Virginia down to Florida. Birdman has not met a stranger and loves to talk to all, especially about birds.

Eric "Floki" Vanhoy is our Outreach Director. He is responsible for organizing Events and coordinating volunteers. Floki has over 5 years experience with parrots. You will often find him out and about at Renaissance Festivals with a few of his feathered pals. He is no stranger to meeting new people and showing the love these beautiful birds have for human companionship. 

As Outreach Director, Floki is involved in many day-to-day interactions with the birds at the sanctuary. Floki also helps coordinate events and outings.

Angie Vanhoy is our Executive Director. She is also the Director of Rehabilitation for Carolina Waterfowl Rescue. Angie loves to help birds in need. She is patient and takes time to get to know each bird and their personality. She is no stranger to a bird. Often at times she is called a Parrot Whisperer. She not only assists with medical procedures, giving medications and treatments, she also loves to educate all about what having a parrot is like. She  loves to share her knowledge of parrot anatomy and behavior. Angie is also responsible for providing fresh food for all the bids. She has since created a YouTube channel with recipes she shares, called Cooking with Companions.
